Okato Coastal Home
Our clients were building their forever home overlooking the Tasman Sea at Okato on the Taranaki Coast, they wanted a unique and one-off timber floor.
After much discussion and many samples we settled on a parquet floor made from recycled Australian Hardwood floorboards, salvaged from the old Carterton Memorial Hall, laid in a Herringbone Pattern with a piece size of 350 x 70 x 19mm.
A unqiue feature is the skip dress finish where we left in place much of the original patina and history that had taken decades to create.
Careful fitting allowed the floor to line up perfectly with the polished concrete.
The floor was finished with a clear Hard Wax oil.
This floor remains in our top five favourite of all time.
